“My friends, our union is wonderful!”

It was with these very words that the final lesson of a large literary project dedicated to the works of A. S. Pushkin began. The goal of the project was to read as many of Pushkin’s works as possible within a short period of time—works devoted to the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, its opening (on October 19, 1811), and his friends. It was important to understand the complex (and now archaic) vocabulary and to learn to read the beautiful lines with expression.

We succeeded! The students recited A. S. Pushkin’s poems by heart with deep emotion and sincerity, accompanied by the sounds of A. S. Griboedov’s Waltz and G. Sviridov’s The Blizzard.

And the culmination of the project was a grand literary quiz based on the works of the great poet.

We would like to thank our senior students for their excellent preparation for all the lessons and for finding time in their busy schedules to read Russian classical literature.
